Quick update

This weekend was good, i raced on saturday and raced smart enough and safe enough to finish. 17 finish out of the 75 that started.
First off i want to say that all the drama over richmond pro cycling using the term "pro" is bull, they have there shit together a lot more than a few of the pro teams not only with the quality of riders but the management of the team. Big shout out to Ryan.. his face showed the story of the race, it was covered in salt and it looked like he had been suffering the last 95 miles more than i could even imagine. I see myself doing the same thing one day and i cant wait..

Recap

After finishing the book, i thought a lot about the story and a lot about the earlier concepts of story. Something that no one has really focused on is the fact that the Android were indeed SLAVES in there native land. To look back at the whole book as a metaphor to slavery really opens new thoughts. This is the way i looked at the blog with its parallelism to slavery/colonization of a new world.

Real- People leave Europe to escape famine, religous prosecution and disease.
Book- People leave earth to escape disease and war.

Real- An incentive to moving to America is cheap slave labor
Book- An incentive to moving to Mars is a personal Slave

Real- Slaves are shipped over from Africa, they are human but there only difference is skin color
Book- Androids are shipped from a factory, they look like humans but have no empathy

Real- Slaves escape from the prosecution of there masters by the underground railroad
Book- Androids escape Mars by hijacking space ships

Real- Slaves are hunted once they get to the north and bouties are rewarded
Book- Androids are hunted on earth and bounties are rewarded

Real- Slaves are murdered for leaving their owners
Book- Androids are "retired" for leaving there owners

There are slight differences between androids and humans and there are slight differences between blacks and whites during colonization. I think that we should talk about this in class, to go deeper into the subject and find more parallelism real life.

Here are some pictures of book covers released in other countries. These all show different views on the book and all of them would probably attract different readers. This shows how there are many different interpretation of the story.

CHapters

We learn from ricks boss that 8 special androids have come from mars and his fellow officer died while trying to retire the 3rd one. This was important because it was first hand evidence for the reasons why the android are being hunted, they are human enough to kill.
The androids and electric animals both show no sign of empathy, but according to the book so far the animals arnt programmed to have the mental capability to hurt humans. They are very comparable though because are artificial reproductions presented to be real.
The Voight-Kampff sounds fool proof to me. Any real human would react to such questions and Rachel Rosen shows the accuracy of it. Any human worth keeping alive would pass the test. If a non android fails the test, than "retiring" them wouldnt really mean anything to anyone.
If a bone marrow test is the only way to truly test human purity, than androids of the future must be amazingly the same. If they can not look at a x-ray of the android and tell that this means that androids have regular human bodies with an artificially programed brain. The androids have full human bodies and are very advanced. One thing is true though, An android can never be smarter than the smartest human because someone has to program the computer in the first place. A computer cant know anything more than the one that programmed it.
I dont understand the relationship between JR and Pris. The life of a chickenhead is so awkward that any social interaction is questionable. Is Pris a chickenhead? What is this small girl doing in this apartment? I would love to see the film version of this just to understand that situation...
